Get to know about types of steel pipes

Nowadays, when we talk about steel pipes, we have to take into account that they are widely used in any type of industry and work. This is thanks to its excellent quality, alloy steel fittings different applications and their characteristics, which make these pipes indispensable in any job. So, if you do not know them yet, you will know about the types that exist, their different uses and their characteristics.

Type of steel pipes

There are several types of steel pipes on the market:

Seamless: These B16.9 Elbow pipes are manufactured through the passage of liquid steel through a rod to create a hollow tube.

With seam: they are made by folding sheets and welding the seams.

Characteristics of steel pipes

  • Steel pipes are strong, firm and durable, thanks to the material they are made of.
  • They are capable of withstanding extreme temperature changes.
  • Very resistant to pressure and destructive elements
  • stainless steel fasteners is ideal for any industry
  • Contains aluminium, magnesium, and titanium

Different applications of steel pipes

Domestic field

Within the domestic field, you can find asme b16.9 fittings in household appliances, gas pipes, behind the refrigerator, among others.

Industrial field

In the industrial field, industries prefer to use A105 Flange for their characteristics, since they are valuable for their strength and great resistance to extreme temperature changes.

Automotive field

Since the 90s, B16.5 Flange have been used in large quantities. These are used in the internal parts of the car, such as in the controls, fuel injection and suspension.

You see why steel pipes are so much in demand today, and that is that their properties and their durability and resistance make them a worthwhile product. This is why in the industry Copper Tube are so good and used.

Different types of tubes and uses

There is a wide range of specifications when it comes to A403 WP304, below are the most relevant and what would be its practical application.

Pipe

The A403 WP316 galvanized steel can be found in thicknesses of 2 mm to 3.6 mm and dimensions of 1/2 to 4 inches. This type of pipe is ideal for supplying water to large structures. Currently, there is also a trend towards building decorative elements with galvanized pipe.

Structural Pipe

The square structural ASTM A182 F304 is available in thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 3 mm, in black and galvanized steel. This type of pipe is used in a structure, as a column for warehouses and industrial buildings, in signalling and as a public lighting pole. Construction based on ASTM A182 F11 tubing has a long service life.

The structural pipe is also available in a rectangular and round version.

Mechanical Tube

The round ASTM A234 WP11 tube is available in black and gauge steel, in thicknesses ranging from 0.8mm to 1.5mm. This type of pipes is used for the construction of industrial machinery, in bodies of heavy or light transport vehicles, and all types of mechanical and structural assemblies.

The ASTM A182 F316 is also available in a square and rectangular version, in various sizes and thicknesses.

Types of fittings according to pipes and plumbing accessories

The fitting is a metallic piece, used to link and connect pipes with each other and with other profiles that have a cylindrical shape.

They are devices with specific characteristics and are part of the piping system itself. Furthermore, a234 wpb fittings are widely used in other areas such as bicycle frames, fire hoses, etc.

Fittings according to the manufacturing material

Commonly, the best-known fittings are carbon steel forged fittings, but we can also find some made of plastic. The manufacturing material also determines the use that can be given to the fitting: what type of fluid can be ransported in it and what characteristics must the connection points of the tubes have.

Metal Fittings
Copper Fittings: They are used to meet the needs of carbon steel fittings. The connection can be by welding or thread and they are very common in installations due to their versatility.

Copper systems can be used for cold or hot water distribution installations, heating installations, gas installations or solar installations.

Steel fittings: Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings are used for different types of water installations and can be found with a layer of galvanized or stainless steel.

Fittings according to types of union
It should be noted that the design of the fittings includes different shapes that facilitate the distribution of the pipes. Among the designs are elbows, tees, three-piece links, straight links, pipe saving bridges, curved links, among others. The following pipe connection systems are the most used in various installations:

  • Threading or thread system
  • Welding for copper pipes
  • Compression system for PE pipes
  • Pressing system for multilayer pipes (press fitting)
  • Adhesives for polypropylene pipes (PPR)
  • alloy steel forged fittings

In plumbing installations, the most common fittings are the a420 wpl6 fittings for multilayer pipes, polypropylene fittings, copper fittings by solder joint, brass pieces for threading and compression brass for PE pipes.

On the other hand, in industrial installations the most widely used connections are hydraulic fittings,

What can flanges be used for?
The different types of flanges can have very varied uses, both at a business and domestic level. The most frequent use of traditional nylon cable ties is to group or fix several cables at the same time, preventing them from being loose. At certain times they can even be used as provisional handcuffs to detain a person.

In the business and domestic sphere a350 lf2 flange are also often used as a seal to prevent the opening of boxes and even enclosures. And is that its holding power and ease of installation make them very versatile in all kinds of situations.

The rest of the carbon steel flanges can also be used to hermetically close plastic bags or packaging, to fix decorations, signs, labels and even lighting; and even to fix cables in all kinds of vehicles, bicycles and motorcycles. So the uses of the flanges can be so varied that it is always advisable to have them close in any area.
